Natasha Bawankule

Undergraduate researcher at UC Berkeley (2023 - )

Natasha is involved in two projects within the group:

1) In collaboration with Diego Osorio Afanador, she has been developing data from Jurassic sedimentary rocks of the Colorado Plateau. The goal is to further constrain rotation of the plateau associated with the Laramide orogeny as well as as further our understanding of Mesozoic plate motion.

2) Natasha also worked on improving our understanding of the geomagnetic polarity timescale in the late Mesoproterozoic through developing new data from the lower northeast sequence of the North Shore Volcanic Group. These data can address the number of reversals and their timing prior to the onset of the Portage Lake normal polarity zone (i.e. the Keweenawan superchron).
