Wesley conducted senior honors thesis research on the California Coast Range volcanics. He was particularly motivated to improve the chronology of volcanic centers with the goal of understanding the progression of volcanism. He was able to improve correlations of volcanic centers that are important piercing points in reconstructing of Neogene to Quaternary offset on the Hayward-Calaveras Faults.
